Born in Comox, B.C. in 1998, Shayne’s family moved to Ontario in 2001. He started playing golf at the age of four and was a regular at the Barcovan golf course in Brighton Ontario. After six years in Brighton his military family was posted back to B.C., before settling back in Belleville in 2009. Shayne began playing in CJGA (Canadian Junior Golf Association) tournaments at the age of nine, while attending Harmony Public School. He also played Thurlow soccer, Belleville Bulls AE hockey, football in the Belleville Minor Football League, and golf in the CJGA and had a successful career on the St. Lawrence Junior Golf
Tour in Eastern Ontario. He attended St Theresa Catholic Secondary where he played basketball, football, hockey and golf. Under the tutelage of Coach Steve Carr, Shayne captained the St. Teresa golf team from 2014-16, where the team had success at Bay of Quinte, COSSA and OFSSA competition. Playing golf was always Shayne’s true passion, and in 2016, Shayne’s successful Junior play led to a CJGA invite to the national team camp, and the opportunity to play at the Euro Cup in Scotland and at the Junior Ryder Cup in South Carolina. Shayne went on to graduate from St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School and was offered a golf scholarship to NCAA Division II school Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He plays on the Crimson Hawks men’s golf team and was accepted into the Environmental Sciences program.
